NEWS: The Rusk County Trail Association and the Ladysmith Jaycees are happy to
once again present the Ladysmith Log Jam as race number 3 of WORS.
The trail is in good shape for this year's event. The land available for Sisters farm trail system has doubled
in size since 1998. Through a generous donation by the Flambeau Mining Company
(entering into a long term lease with the city of Ladysmith), about 160 acres have been
added to the system. To date about three miles of new trails have been built with a
plan for more single track to be added in the future. The new section of trails
borders the Flambeau River and will provide many new and exciting routes for this year and
future years' Log Jam races.
As in past years, the course will be a lap course starting at the Mount
Senario Football field and follow a paved road for about two miles before entering the
trail system. The course is a mixture of double and single track sections that wind
up, down, and around eskers left by glaciers along the Flambeau River. The course
finishes at the Sisters farm trail head. Bus transportation will be available for
spectators to park at the college and ride to the finish line.
Again this year, registration is available Saturday night starting at
4:00 p.m. and running until 6:30 p.m. Plan to arrive on Saturday and get
registration out of the way for the next day. Available again this year is a carbo-load/spaghetti
feed Saturday night at OLS
(Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church) -- the address is 611 1st Street South.
There will also be rough camping in back of the West parking lot at Mount Senario
College. You can also keep track of the changes and updates for the Log Jam on the
Blue Hills Trail web page (www.centurytel.net/bluehills/).
Dave and Lisa Borman are again co-directors for the Log Jam and welcome
you to come up and enjoy the northwoods. As in the past, funds raised from the Log
Jam will be split between the co-sponsors: the Jaycees and the Rusk County Trail Association.
